“Active and Passive Treatment Systems”

Meeting the 280NTU Limit at the Construction Site

This presentation provides a brief overview of Active and Passive Treatment Systems that may be needed on large construction sites to meet the recently published Effluent Limitation Guidelines from the EPA. Ray Frankenberg gave this presentation on March 24, 2010 to the Great Rivers Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) at the 2010 Spring Workshop.

“Evolution of Stormwater Regulations”

This presentation provides a brief history of water pollution regulations starting with the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 through the National Pollutants Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Phase II stormwater rules of today. It briefly discusses the six Minimum Control Measures (MCM) required of permitted Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) communities and specifically details requirements for construction site operators and MS4 communities in handling the 4th MCM – Construction Site Runoff Control. Ray Frankenberg gave this presentation for the USGS Water Resources Luncheon Series in Rolla, MO on January 21, 2010.
